The CPU Performance Engineer will join a highly motivated team focused on advancing CPU architectures for next generation iPhone, iPad, and Mac products. This role emphasizes innovation in areas such as branch prediction and CPU pipelines. The engineer will analyze workloads to identify performance bottlenecks and collaborate with experienced CPU designers to refine ideas. The team aims to enhance the simulation environment to support data-driven decisions and improve overall productivity.

• BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science
• 10+ years of relevant industry experience
• Experience with CPU architecture and micro-architecture
• Experience in performance and/or power simulation environments
• Coding experience including object-oriented programming with C and C++
• Experience in scripting languages such as Perl or Python
• Understanding of common data structures and algorithms
• Knowledge in software design patterns
• Familiarity with SIMD and vector architectures
• Knowledge of OS internals and compiler technologies
• Strong communication, influence, and negotiation skills

• Analyze specific single-threaded and multi-threaded workloads to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with CPU designers to assess the feasibility of ideas through modeling.
• Collect data and measurements to confirm or rule out ideas.
• Maintain and improve the simulation environment to enable data-driven decisions.
• Seek out areas for improvement in CPU micro-architecture.
