The CPU Performance Architect role is focused on advancing CPU micro-architecture for next generation iPhone, iPad, and Mac products. The team is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation in areas such as branch prediction and CPU pipeline optimization. This position requires collaboration with experienced CPU designers to assess and refine ideas for implementation. The role also involves analyzing workloads to identify performance bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.

• BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science
• 20+ years of relevant industry experience
• MS or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science
• Experience with CPU architecture and micro-architecture
• Experience in performance and/or power simulation environments
• Experience in scripting languages such as Perl or Python
• Understanding of common data structures and algorithms
• Knowledge in software design patterns
• Familiarity with SIMD and vector architectures
• Knowledge of OS internals and compiler technologies

• Collaborate with CPU designers to assess the feasibility of ideas through modeling.
• Analyze single-threaded and multi-threaded workloads to identify bottlenecks.
• Collect data and measurements to confirm or rule out performance ideas.
• Maintain and improve the simulation environment for data-driven decisions.
• Seek out areas for improvement in CPU performance and efficiency.
