Job description

Apple is looking for a Wi-Fi Feature Analyst to evaluate and develop next-generation Wi-Fi features for its products. The role involves analyzing emerging Wi-Fi capabilities and assessing their real-world application value. The analyst will quantify user benefits and analyze implementation costs while working cross-functionally to prioritize feature development. This position directly influences the connectivity experience for millions of Apple customers.

Requirements

  • BS and a minimum of 20 years relevant industry experience
  • 7+ years hands-on Wi-Fi/IEEE 802.11 system design and architecture experience, with 5+ years in technical leadership roles
  • Strong understanding of 802.11 standards with emphasis on MAC and PHY layer features
  • Knowledge of WiFi system architectures on HW/FW/SW systems and their partitioning and implementation
  • Solid foundation in wireless communication theory, signal processing, and performance modeling
  • Proficiency in performance analysis, simulation, and modeling tools (NS3 or equivalent)
  • Experience analyzing complex technical trade-offs between performance, power, complexity, cost, and multi-radio coexistence challenges
  • Experience with prototype development and proof-of-concept validation
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills with ability to synthesize complex technical information and communicate to diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to influence technical direction and drive initiatives through data-driven decision-making, persuasion, and consensus building
  • Cross-functional collaboration and project management skills, coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines
  • MS with 12+ years or PhD with 10+ years in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi 7 features
  • Strong knowledge of Wi-Fi 8/IEEE 802.11bn features
  • Experience with competitive analysis and technology benchmarking
  • Familiarity with silicon development processes and constraints
  • Understanding of power management strategies for mobile devices
  • Experience with user research or product management methodologies
  • Knowledge of other wireless standards and interactions with Wi-Fi
  • Experience with lab characterization and field testing

Responsibilities

  • Analyze emerging Wi-Fi standards and evaluate how these features map to real-world applications across Apple's product portfolio.
  • Quantify performance improvements through simulation, modeling, and prototyping and translate technical capabilities into tangible user benefits.
  • Evaluate implementation costs including hardware/software complexity, silicon area, power consumption, development effort, and time-to-market.
  • Assess technical feasibility by working with architecture and design teams to understand system constraints and identify risks and dependencies.
  • Develop feature prioritization recommendations based on user impact, competitive positioning, implementation cost, technical feasibility, and strategic alignment.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with architecture, RF/analog, digital design, firmware, software, and validation teams.
  • Drive proof-of-concept development from initial prototype through product integration, coordinating resources and presenting findings to technical leadership.
  • Define technical requirements and specifications, including acceptance criteria, performance targets, dependencies, interfaces, and implementation guidance for engineering execution.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
