Job description
The Senior Firmware Engineer will be part of Apple's Incubation team, focusing on developing prototype hardware systems that integrate various sensors and enable Apple Intelligence features. This role involves creating the complete software stack from hardware abstraction to OS integration. The engineer will work hands-on in a collaborative environment, utilizing advanced tools and collaborating with experts across multiple disciplines. The position requires strong debugging skills and experience in embedded firmware development.
Requirements
- BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
- 8+ years relevant industry experience in embedded firmware development with a proven track record from concept to production
- Strong hardware bring-up and debugging skills with proficiency using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters
- Experience with multi-sensor systems and iOS/macOS development
- Proficiency in C and C++ with strong Python programming skills for scripting and automation
- Experience with SoC architectures and real-time control systems
- MS or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
Responsibilities
- Develop the complete software stack from hardware abstraction layer and drivers through OS integration and middleware
- Build multi-sensor systems from scratch and influence hardware, algorithm, and application design decisions
- Work hands-on in the lab with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
- Collaborate with world-class experts in electrical engineering, optics, sensors module, product design, software, and system teams
- Implement protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and USB
- Gather requirements and manage CI/CD for embedded systems
