Job description
Arcadis is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join a multi-national mining engineering team. This role involves providing technical leadership for projects across the US, Canada, and Chile, with a focus on sustainable mining solutions. The position allows for hybrid work arrangements and requires approximately 10% travel. The selected candidate will lead geotechnical engineering on surface mining projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to drive environmental and operational improvements.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or closely related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Minimum 15 years of experience
- Post graduate degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or closely related field is preferred
- Direct experience with geotechnical modeling software such as GeoStudio, RocScience, FLAC, PLAXIS, etc. is preferred
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D, Arc Map, or similar geospatial software is preferred
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the Geotechnical Engineering community and Mining Sector Team.
- Act as or become an Engineer of Record (EoR) on appropriate projects.
- Support business development by identifying and pursuing growth opportunities.
- Use excellent communication skills to represent Arcadis to external teams and clients.
- Define project goals and manage external inputs to deliver informed technical solutions.
- Perform geotechnical engineering reviews and provide key input on critical projects.
- Apply engineering principles to develop effective solutions for clients' challenges.
