Job description
Arcadis is seeking a Principal Civil / Environmental Engineer to join their Design Engineering team, focusing on complex mining, reclamation, restoration, and development projects throughout North America. This remote flexible opportunity allows candidates to work from any Arcadis office in the Western US, with a mix of office and hybrid home-office work. The role involves providing technical leadership and mentoring junior staff while engaging with clients and regulatory bodies. The engineer will be responsible for various engineering activities from conceptual planning through design and construction.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of experience, with 15 or more years preferred
- Prior experience supporting mining projects
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) with ability to obtain reciprocity in western states
- Proficiency with civil design using computer-based modeling applications
Responsibilities
- Develop concept-level plans to address client needs in collaboration with project managers and senior technical team members.
- Lead and manage teams of junior engineers throughout the entire project lifecycle.
- Review regulations and standards to effectively plan technical studies, project designs, and required permitting activities.
- Analyze documentation to understand site characteristics for civil design development.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and develop stormwater management designs.
- Utilize 3D design software to develop grading and drainage plans and optimize earthwork designs.
- Prepare and oversee the development of design documentation including drawings and technical specifications.
- Provide senior review of engineering calculation briefs, design reports, and permitting submittals.
- Offer office-based construction support, including contractor assistance and technical submittal review.
- Present on technical and engineering topics to clients and regulatory agencies.
