Job description
The Bridge Engineer role at Jacobs involves working within the Northwest Bridge Team to design and oversee transportation projects, including highways and railroads. Located in Boise, Idaho or Spokane, Washington, the engineer will engage in a variety of projects across rural and urban settings. This position emphasizes collaboration within multi-disciplinary teams and offers opportunities for professional growth in structural design. The role also includes mentoring junior engineers and contributing to business development efforts.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 – 10 years of progressive experience as a Structural Engineer in the design of transportation structures and/or bridges.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field from an ABET accredited university or college.
- ID Professional Engineer License or the ability to obtain within one year.
- Experience with multiple structure types including precast and post-tensioned concrete girder bridges, steel girder bridges, bridge widenings, and bridge rehabilitations.
- Strong technical skills and a thorough understanding of technical standards for bridge design, construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise in completing transportation structure design and construction projects from conceptual and preliminary design to final design and construction.
- Coordinate design activities and meetings between Jacobs staff and subcontractors.
- Assist in business development activities and proposal efforts.
- Train, direct, and mentor junior engineers and CAD staff.
- Produce technical memorandums and reports.
