Job description
The role is part of the Battery Engineering group at Apple, focusing on the mechanical design and integration of innovative battery solutions. The team aims to create battery packs that deliver more energy in smaller spaces, pushing the boundaries of battery technology. As the NPI Mechanical/Product Design resource, you will lead the development of battery modules from initial architecture through to ramp. Collaboration with various product development teams is essential to optimize designs and enhance the overall product experience.
Requirements
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- 15 years of relevant industry experience
- Master's degree or equivalent job-related experience in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Experience with 3D CAD
- Ability to generate innovative designs with multi-functional teams
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly, or statistical tolerance analysis techniques
- Clear and concise communication skills for technical project status
- Demonstrated ability to deliver to product timelines
- Experience in design cycle from concept through MP with high-volume manufacturing processes and/or automation
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end mechanical development and integration of innovative battery modules.
- Design battery packs while optimizing collaboration with outside vendors and internal experts.
- Validate designs to ensure they meet performance and integration requirements.
- Communicate technical project status clearly across functional teams and management.
- Apply mechanical design engineering skills to push the limits of battery technology.
