JobsSoC Validation Engineer
Job description
The role is part of the Silicon Validation Team at Apple, focusing on silicon validation and debugging related to anomalous behaviors in system workloads. The team is responsible for validating Apple SoCs and ensuring their functionality under various conditions. You will work closely with functional test writers to define validation plans and execute system tests on prototype SoCs. The position requires collaboration with domain experts and downstream testing teams to resolve issues and improve product operation.
Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience in silicon validation software engineering or a related field.
- Experience with SoC bring up.
- Experience with system debug.
- Knowledge of computer architectures, including cache, memory hierarchy, and data pipelines.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
Responsibilities
- Focus on silicon validation, debug, and root cause analysis related to anomalous behaviors using system workloads.
- Work closely with functional test writers to understand high-level architectures of each IP block within Apple SoCs and define applicable validation plans.
- Execute system tests through scripts and automation frameworks on large volumes of prototype SoCs across Process, Voltage, and Temperature corners.
- Identify potential issues and characterize the functional voltage of SoCs under workloads.
- Act as the first line of debugger to triage issues and isolate failures.
- Collaborate with domain experts to define Design of Experiments and develop root cause theories.
- Analyze data across voltage domains and provide feedback to product engineers to define product operation voltages.
- Recommend content for testing and screening environments.
- Facilitate issue resolution by collaborating with downstream testing teams.
