Job description

The CPU Physical Design Engineer role at Apple involves driving RTL-to-GDS design convergence and ensuring block-level physical design delivery. Requirements

  • Minimum BS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience in logic design and digital circuits
  • Proficiency in Perl or TCL programming languages
  • Knowledge of low power, high frequency physical design techniques
  • Familiarity with industry standard logic synthesis, PnR, STA, and power analysis tools
  • Understanding of deep sub-micron technology and its implications

Responsibilities

  • Drive RTL-to-GDS design convergence through logic synthesis and place-and-route tools targeting ambitious PPA goals
  • Be responsible for block-level physical design delivery and closure of backend flows
  • Collaborate with internal CAD and PD methodology teams on tool features and optimizations
  • Work with cross-functional teams on CPU floorplan, timing, power, reliability, and testability aspects
  • Define and co-optimize memory macros and library standard cells with custom IP teams
