Job description

This role is part of the Silicon Validation Hardware team, focusing on designing and manufacturing high-performance, power-efficient processors and system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. The position involves collaborating with various teams to develop specifications and implement test circuits. The engineer will be responsible for high-speed board designs, debugging complex system-level problems, and ensuring the technology meets Apple's standards. This role is critical in enabling the next generation of Apple products.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical, Computer or related degree program with 3 years of experience.
  • Experience with schematic level board design.
  • Understanding of board bring-up and debug strategies.
  • Strong fundamentals in electrical engineering concepts, including transistor operation and signal integrity.
  • RTL experience using Verilog or VHDL, preferably with FPGA design experience.
  • Proficiency with standard hardware lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Test automation expertise using Perl, Tcl, or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Develop specifications based on requirements from cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct schematic capture and circuit design.
  • Define layout and routing constraints, and perform design reviews and simulations.
  • Develop FPGA and CPLD solutions.
  • Perform board bring-up, testing, characterization, and debugging.
  • Analyze power and signal integrity.
  • Design and characterize high-speed interfaces.
  • Debug a wide range of issues on test boards and production systems.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
