Apple's Camera ISP Algorithm team is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to enhance photography and video technology across all Apple products. The role involves tackling challenges in video quality assessment and developing innovative metrics grounded in signal processing and human vision principles. • MS in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience in Image/Video Quality Assessment (IQA/VQA), image processing, or computational vision.
• Track record in statistical analysis, correlation methodologies, and data modeling.
• Proficiency in algorithm architecture design and implementation.
• PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Experience managing or scaling outsourced/crowdsourced subjective evaluation campaigns.
• Track record of developing explainable, non-black-box algorithms for image or video analysis.
• Proven experience designing, conducting, and analyzing psycho-physical or psycho-visual experiments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the human visual system (HVS) and traditional signal processing.
• Strong publication record in relevant venues or equivalent industry patents.
• Ability to translate complex perceptual phenomena into clear engineering requirements.

• Design and implement a hybrid evaluation framework for video quality assessment.
• Leverage large-scale subjective data to characterize automated metrics.
• Inject domain knowledge to apply metrics where they are statistically reliable.
• Design and tune novel, explainable metrics for video quality evaluation.
• Provide rapid, trustworthy, and actionable feedback to developers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance camera technology.
