Job description

The Product Operations team at Apple is seeking an extraordinary engineer to design and implement machine learning strategies for the supply chain and manufacturing systems. This role involves collaborating with multi-functional teams to develop machine learning solutions and deliver projects from conceptualization to deployment. The engineer will also perform statistical analyses and work closely with data engineers to create business intelligence solutions. Presenting analyses to a diverse audience, including executives, is a key aspect of the position.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in GenAI applications, machine learning algorithms, software engineering, and data mining models with an emphasis on large language models or large multimodal models.
  • Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in GenAI application building with agents and agentic workflows.
  • Experience with LLM and LMM development and fine-tuning.
  • Proficiency in using cutting-edge GenAI tools, such as Claude Code and Roo Code.
  • Familiarity with distributed computing, cloud infrastructure, and orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Apache Airflow.
  • Hands-on experience with LangChain and LlamaIndex.
  • Deep understanding of transformer-based architectures and their optimization for low-latency inference.
  • Experience applying ML techniques in manufacturing, testing, or hardware optimization.
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement machine learning strategies for supply chain and manufacturing systems.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to develop machine learning solutions.
  • Deliver projects from problem statement and conceptualization to final deployment.
  • Perform ad-hoc statistical analyses.
  • Work closely with data engineers to generate detailed business intelligence solutions.
  • Conduct presentations of analyses to a wide range of audiences, including executives.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
