Job description
As an FPGA Engineer, you will be part of a small team that designs and productizes Software-Defined Radios and precision RF and Analog Test Equipment. The team focuses on developing next-generation wireless communication products, leveraging complex, high-speed, real-time logic on industry-leading FPGAs. You will collaborate with cross-functional team members to create embedded systems that contribute to Apple's internal products. This role requires a passion for learning and working in an agile environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related major with relevant industry work experience.
- Recent development experience in designing, coding, and implementing digital logic for FPGAs using VHDL or Verilog.
- Experience in developing comprehensive test benches to verify HDL code for functional correctness, performance, and compliance with specifications.
- Experience in digital circuits, state machines, pipelining, memory interfaces, multiple clock domains, and high-speed designs.
- Experience designing DSP algorithms in FPGAs or ASICs.
- Ability to use lab equipment such as JTAG, Logic Analyzer, Oscilloscope, and Spectrum Analyzer.
- Experience with Cadence Simulation Tools and Xilinx Vivado.
- Knowledge of UVM.
- Knowledge of RF and DSP fundamentals.
- Knowledge of high-speed communication protocols like PCIe, 100GbE, and JESD204C.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Work on the design and development of embedded systems for wireless communication products.
- Collaborate with RF system engineers, software engineers, DSP engineers, hardware engineers, and Embedded Firmware engineers.
- Ensure that internal products meet Apple's exacting standards for quality, accuracy, and functionality.
- Participate in international travel as required, up to 10% of the time.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
