Job description

The Senior Systems Development Engineer will lead the development of automation software for AWS's compute and bare metal network infrastructure. This role involves working across multiple teams to build scalable and reliable systems that support the distributed storage platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and be a proactive leader, capable of solving complex architectural problems. The position requires collaboration with various engineering roles to ensure high-quality and reliable designs for AWS core compute solutions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing or architecting systems for reliability and scaling.
  • 5+ years of systems development experience in an IT or data center environment.
  • 5+ years of experience deploying and operating in a Linux/Unix environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement.
  • Experience leading the design, build, and deployment of complex software solutions in production.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.
  • 6+ years of development experience in programming or scripting languages such as Python, Java, Bash, or Perl.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical efforts to solve complex architectural problems.
  • Manage a team of software and system engineers to push technological boundaries.
  • Oversee platform development efforts and collaborate with component partner teams.
  • Standardize testing and define telemetry and alarming for the platforms.
  • Maintain healthy vendor relationships and proactively communicate to resolve issues.
  • Drive high quality and reliability into new designs for AWS core compute solutions.
