The role involves joining a dynamic team of environmental professionals at Amazon Web Services (AWS) focused on environmental permitting and compliance. The Regional Environmental Engineer will be critical in enabling AWS's growth by developing regional and site-specific strategies for data center construction and operation. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental regulations while supporting sustainability goals. The successful candidate will manage multiple high-priority projects and engage with both internal and external partners.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience conducting environmental due diligence for greenfield and brownfield sites.
• At least 3 years of project or task management experience for environmental permitting and/or due diligence projects.
• Experience delivering multi-media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance projects with specific expertise in CWA 404 and NPDES permitting.
• Experience managing large projects and multifunctional teams.
• Experience in multiple states within the US, preferably in OH, IN, MO, KY, MI, IL, WI.
• Experience managing and/or supporting community/public interactions.
• Experience with Smartsheet or other project management software.

• Assess environmental risks and requirements and develop mitigations and strategies to support data center siting and development strategies.
• Lead technical aspects of environmental due diligence, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
• Deliver environmental permits, approvals, and plans to enable on-time and compliant construction and operations for new data center locations.
• Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to internal and external project partners.
• Coordinate with partner teams to optimize site designs considering natural resource or operational constraints.
• Develop site development and permitting strategies that are environmentally responsible and sustainable.
• Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations in support of environmental permit acquisition.
• Develop, manage, and track metrics to evaluate project success.
