The Runtime Platforms team at Goldman Sachs is responsible for delivering a highly available and scalable ecosystem for engineers worldwide, focusing on containerization to enhance software delivery. The role is for an experienced engineer who will serve as the regional subject matter expert for the Procmon platform, which schedules millions of daily jobs across various business functions. The team emphasizes teamwork, innovation, and supporting colleagues both professionally and personally. The engineer will work closely with development teams and users to ensure platform reliability and facilitate migrations.

• Extensive experience (8+ years) in DevOps or Production Engineering.
• Expertise in architecting, deploying, and scaling distributed computing systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and automation skills, leveraging real-time monitoring and alerting tools.
• Deep knowledge of Linux operating systems and system administration.
• Good networking fundamentals, including familiarity with TCP/IP, IP routing, and firewalls.
• Experience working with distributed computing systems and Cloud computing within enterprise environments.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Go, Shell, Python, or Erlang.
• Ability to operate effectively in a mission critical, highly regulated financial services environment.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical users.
• Previous experience with supporting and mentoring junior team members and interns is a plus.

• Proactively identify operational risks, capacity concerns, and reliability gaps.
• Continuously refine runbooks, tooling, and automation to improve platform reliability.
• Build observability for new deployments to ensure robustness.
• Lead real-time outage investigations and present postmortems to senior management.
• Define SLIs and SLOs and partner with development teams to ensure systems meet SLAs.
• Facilitate planned migration from the previous to the newest Procmon platform.
• Communicate effectively and work efficiently with remote colleagues in other regions.
• Provide regional coverage for the Procmon platform, including participation in an on-call rotation.
