This position is within the in-house tax department of a leading financial services organization, specifically in the State and Local Indirect Tax group. The primary focus is to ensure compliance with tax laws and assist in managing tax risk. The role involves preparing and reviewing various tax returns and representing the firm during audits. The team collaborates with other departments to gather necessary information and supports the planning and analysis of new deals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
- An advanced degree and/or CPA is a plus.
- 1-3 years of relevant tax experience is required.
- Indirect tax experience is a plus.
- Experience with Big Four firms and/or commodities is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment is important.
- Capability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly is required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare sales, property, and other excise tax returns for the firm's entities.
- Interact with other groups to obtain information required for preparing returns.
- Assist with audits and prepare state registration forms.
- Prepare state refund claims and written responses to state notices.
- Correspond with state representatives regarding tax matters.
- Research various tax topics and new deal transactions.
