The Senior AI Engineering Expert at Goldman Sachs will leverage advanced AI tooling to develop solutions within the Java/JVM ecosystem. This role focuses on architecting and implementing production-grade AI solutions that integrate with existing Java-based microservices. The position requires building scalable AI workflows to automate processes such as collateral management and risk monitoring. The expert will also collaborate with various teams to identify impactful AI use cases and drive innovation in the financial sector.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in Java software engineering, with at least 3 years focused on AI/ML integration in production.
- Expert-level proficiency in Java 21+ utilizing Virtual Threads/Project Loom for high-concurrency AI inference.
- Hands-on experience with leading AI frameworks and tools.
- Deep experience with Spring Boot 3.x, JPA, Sybase, and Maven/Gradle.
- Proficiency in SQL and integration with enterprise vector stores via Java clients.
- Experience with Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ for orchestrating asynchronous AI agent tasks.
- Deployment experience on AWS using SDKs.
- A degree in Computer Science, Financial Engineering, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement end-to-end AI pipelines that integrate seamlessly with existing enterprise APIs and microservices.
- Optimize inference latency and manage token costs for large-scale deployments serving thousands of users.
- Establish robust evaluation frameworks to measure model accuracy and ensure compliance with security and privacy standards.
- Collaborate with tech leads and software teams to identify high-impact AI use cases and define technical roadmaps.
- Build robust Retrieval-Augmented Generation systems using Java-based ETL pipelines to ingest and index unstructured data.
- Leverage Spring Boot Actuator and Micrometer to monitor LLM latency and model drift.
- Implement 'Human-in-the-Loop' patterns to ensure explainability and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Lead the transition of traditional Java processes to real-time, event-driven AI architectures.
