Job description
The hardware design engineer at Rivian will be responsible for the electrical system design, bring-up, and validation for current and future electric vehicles. This role requires collaboration across various teams to influence design and address hardware/software integration challenges. The engineer will work on in-cabin displays and user interaction hardware, ensuring high performance and reliability. A strong focus on prototyping and manufacturing product development cycles is essential.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years working experience on displays/touch products
- Experience in Digital, Analog, Mixed Signal, Power conversion, and Firmware R&D
- End-to-end product design/development to mass production experience required
- Working knowledge of design for EMC and regulatory requirements for low-voltage electronics
- Familiarity with schematic capture, PCB layout, and FPGA development systems
- Understanding of display systems, including video pipe architecture and GPU interfaces
- Experience in signal integrity, timing, and power rail quality analysis
Responsibilities
- Conduct electrical design for in-cabin displays and user interaction hardware
- Work on high-speed display interfaces such as FPDLink, LVDS, and HDMI
- Guide component selection for optimal cost, performance, and reliability
- Support ECU hardware and software development utilizing optical attributes
- Contribute to component and subsystem validation plans
- Create and maintain technology roadmaps for displays and user interactions
- Conduct system design reviews at critical product development gates
- Prototype bring-up, bench, and vehicle testing
