Job description

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer to join their team in California, focusing on delivering professional engineering work in both field and office settings. The role involves ensuring compliance with contract documents, monitoring construction progress, and overseeing project documentation. The Senior Resident Engineer will also be responsible for safety oversight and effective communication with contractors and clients. This position is critical in managing complex highway improvement projects and ensuring high standards of quality and compliance.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 15 years of directly relevant experience, including Resident Engineer or related roles.
  • At least 5 years working as a Resident Engineer on Caltrans Highway improvement projects of similar size and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Technology.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) / Licensed Civil Engineer in the State of California.
  • Experience as a Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, or Project Manager on a State Highway System project of at least $30 million.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of Construction Management employees, State employees, and Contractor’s employees by observing operations and traffic conditions.
  • Review contractor operations for compliance with CAL OSHA regulations.
  • Provide directions to staff to maintain complete and accurate contract records.
  • Plan, review, and assign work of subordinate field or construction field office personnel.
  • Review construction processes and engineering layouts.
  • Oversee materials testing activities and review daily inspection reports.
  • Attend and may lead construction meetings with clients and contractors.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.
