Job description
As a Staff Engineer in Manufacturing Engineering at Rivian, you will focus on creating geometric dimensions and tolerances while analyzing them through design variation analysis tools. You will play a key role in developing the dimensional strategy for new products and work closely with various engineering teams to ensure successful product launches. This position requires a strong background in automotive design and a passion for problem-solving. You will also be responsible for mentoring others and driving best practices in dimensional control.
Requirements
- BS or higher in engineering.
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD and GD&T, with CATIA preferred.
- Expertise in both 1D and 3D tolerance stack analysis, with 3DCS preferred.
- Ability to make data-driven decisions and demonstrate strong analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best dimensional practices.
- Drive dimensional controls and tolerance discussions across the organization.
- Support vehicle development to ensure proper GD&T is specified for supplier parts.
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis on systems and components.
- Iterate on component design with design and release engineers.
- Create and uphold Rivian checking fixture and part quality standards.
- Lead and mentor others in the Dimensional Control Engineering Department.
- Participate in virtual and production build events.
