The role is for a senior software engineer on Rivian's Enterprise Software team, which focuses on building the digital infrastructure that supports global operations. The team is product-centric and aims to enhance the employee experience through innovative solutions. The engineer will work on cloud-native services and leverage AI technologies to automate processes. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to translate complex business needs into effective technical solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record of building mission-critical enterprise systems.
- Expert-level understanding of system design, distributed architectures, and asynchronous communication patterns.
- Deep proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Python, Go, or C#, and experience with modern frontend frameworks like React or Next.js.
- Hands-on experience with major cloud providers (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker/K8s).
- Experience with event-driven systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ and building scalable data pipelines.
- High proficiency with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of cloud-native, highly reliable enterprise services that support thousands of global users.
- Architect workflows and decision-support systems that leverage LLMs and machine learning for proactive, automated resolution.
- Champion high standards for code quality, security, and performance while mentoring junior engineers.
- Own complex technical initiatives from initial concept through production deployment and scaling.
- Partner with stakeholders in HR, Finance, and Facilities to translate complex business processes into automated technical solutions.
- Identify opportunities for deep process automation across the platform using advanced automation capabilities.
- Design robust API integrations and event-driven architectures to unify disparate enterprise data silos.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership in Applied AI architecture and industry best practices.
