You will work at the intersection of regulations, systems engineering, and cross-domain execution, ensuring compliance and robustness across vehicle platforms. Your expertise will guide the regulatory certification of systems, while collaborating with various engineering teams. This position is critical in maintaining Rivian's commitment to innovative and compliant electric adventure vehicles.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the automotive industry in systems, electronics, software, or calibration engineering.
  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Applied Physics, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Direct experience working on eCall, emergency call, immobilizer/anti-theft, telematics, or other EU regulatory functions from concept through launch.
  • Strong understanding of EU type approval and UN ECE regulatory frameworks for electronic systems and connected services.
  • Demonstrated experience in requirements engineering using formal requirement management tools.
  • Hands-on experience with verification and validation of automotive electronic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain system-level requirements and architectures for globally mandated regulatory functions across all Rivian vehicle platforms.
  • Map global regulations and standards to Rivian systems, ensuring clear traceability from regulation to implementation.
  • Decompose regulatory texts into clear functional and non-functional system requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain end-to-end traceability between regulatory clauses, system requirements, and test cases.
  • Lead system design and requirement reviews with various engineering teams to ensure compliance and performance.
  • Define and drive the validation strategy and test specifications for regulated functions across markets.
  • Support Homologation and Test teams in preparing and executing type approval and conformity testing.
  • Analyze test results and defect data to confirm compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Software and Cybersecurity teams to ensure software updates preserve compliance.
  • Maintain and continuously improve best practices and processes to scale regulatory system solutions.
  • Monitor evolving global regulations relevant to regulated functions and assess their impact on existing designs.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for EU system-level regulatory requirements.

Benefits

  • Employees at Rivian are often offered comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, ESPP and potential RSU grants, performance bonuses, and generous time off including paid parental and sick leave. Perks can include 24/7 mental-health coaching and therapy, Hinge Health for Anthem enrollees, tuition assistance and professional development, plus on-site food and a wide range of employee discounts on items like computers, mobile phones, home loans, and pet care.
