Job description

As a Staff Battery Test Engineer at Rivian, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of high-voltage battery systems. You will lead the testing and validation efforts while collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams. This position requires a strong technical background and the ability to innovate methodologies for battery validation. Your expertise will guide the development of industry-leading testing strategies and ensure the lab remains at the forefront of battery technology.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in battery testing, power electronics, or EV powertrain validation.
  • BS/MS/PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Expertise with automotive test tools such as Vector CANalyzer, CANoe, and Tracetronic ECU-Test.
  • Experience with battery cycling and automation test equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical authority for high-voltage battery validation.
  • Pioneer the development of novel test methodologies and validation assessments.
  • Lead the technical specification and sourcing strategy for large-scale test equipment.
  • Develop automated data pipelines and analytical frameworks for test data.
  • Lead cross-functional Root Cause Analysis for complex failure modes.
  • Approve high-stakes technical assessments including DFMEA and PFMEA.
  • Design and oversee the organization’s Technical Memory and validation standards.
  • Represent the Battery Test organization in Key Stakeholder Reviews.
