Job description

The role at Rivian focuses on developing lubrication strategies for electric drive units and related components to enhance durability, efficiency, and thermal performance. Candidates will lead the design and validation of lubrication system components while collaborating with various internal teams and suppliers. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in lubrication engineering, component design, or closely related roles.
  • Strong CAD skills with experience in 3D parametric modeling and PLM systems.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
  • Familiarity with system analysis and simulation tools is strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing or reviewing validation plans for lubrication performance.
  • Ability to work independently and structure ambiguous problems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop lubrication strategies for electric drive units and related components.
  • Utilize first-principles engineering to create innovative designs.
  • Lead the design of lubrication system components from concept to production.
  • Create detailed component specifications and validation plans.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to meet design requirements.
  • Provide on-site supplier support during product launches.
  • Document design best practices and support continuous improvement.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to incorporate lubrication needs into designs.
  • Design experiments and test equipment for lubrication system performance.
  • Analyze test data to identify lubrication-related issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Prepare technical documentation and present recommendations to stakeholders.
