Job description
The Staff LiDAR System Engineer at Rivian will focus on evaluating and developing automotive LiDAR technologies to enhance the company's autonomy platform. This role requires a deep understanding of LiDAR system design, characterization, and validation. The engineer will collaborate with various internal teams to define specifications and ensure the performance of LiDAR modules. Requirements
- MS or Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics or related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in the development, characterization, and testing of optoelectrical systems or optical sensing systems
- In-depth knowledge of semiconductor lasers and device physics
- Good understanding of the optical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal aspects of system design
- Proficient in scripting for data analysis and test automation, preferably in Python
- Working knowledge of C programming for embedded systems prototyping
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal architecture, hardware, and software teams to drive the specifications of autonomy LiDARs
- Evaluate and characterize LiDAR technologies and products to support Rivian’s autonomy products
- Define and work on prototype modules and perform lab and field tests to validate LiDAR module performance against specifications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet system level targets
