Job description
The Design-for-Reliability Engineer will focus on mechanical systems to enhance the reliability of Rivian's Closure systems products from concept to production. This role involves collaboration with a talented team of design and validation engineers to address complex engineering challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in reliability and a passion for outdoor adventure. This position is crucial for ensuring that Rivian's products are robust and dependable.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
- One or more years of industry experience in a reliability engineering role.
- Strong technical background and interest in reliability.
- Experience with facilitating FMEAs and leading cross-functional teams.
- Working knowledge of a coding language, preferably Python.
- Working knowledge of statistical software for reliability, such as JMP or the ReliaSoft suite.
- Understanding of physics of failure for mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of degradation of mechanical and structural components.
- Understanding of mechanics of materials, fracture mechanics, and mechanical design.
- Familiarity with Highly Accelerated Testing methods.
Responsibilities
- Design reliability into Rivian's Closure systems products from concept to production phases.
- Collaborate with design and validation engineers to develop creative solutions to engineering problems.
- Serve as the resident reliability development expert for the Closure design team.
- Contribute to a respectful, fun, inclusive, and inspiring team culture.
- Deploy reliability testing guidelines and invent new ways of testing.
- Utilize knowledge of reliability statistics, including Weibull Analysis.
