Job description
The Staff CAE Engineering role at Rivian is focused on guiding and shaping drive unit designs through Finite Element Analysis (FEA). This position is part of a dynamic team that emphasizes fast-to-market analyses for new and existing drive units. The role involves collaboration with various engineering disciplines to ensure successful product launches. The ideal candidate will drive the development of new FEA analysis procedures while addressing complex engineering challenges.
Requirements
- MS in Engineering or higher.
- 7-10 years of experience in Finite Element Analysis with proficiency in Applied Solid Mechanics and Numerical Methods.
- Experience using Altair products for pre-processing and Dassault products for stress and fatigue solutions.
- Deep understanding of mechanics of materials, statics, dynamics, fatigue, and sealing.
- CAD knowledge, preferably in CATIA.
- Expertise in 2D and 3D modeling, sub-modeling, and sealing modeling.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation with Python or C++.
Responsibilities
- Work during the design phase to validate components and system level assemblies via FEA.
- Perform topology optimization to identify necessary ribbing structures within package space.
- Conduct linear and nonlinear static analyses for complete drive unit systems.
- Execute NVH analyses including modal and frequency response.
- Perform fatigue analyses considering pre-stress from assembly loads.
- Conduct sealing analyses with expertise in hyper-elastic analysis.
- Support design reviews by preparing and presenting analysis results and recommendations.
- Root cause launch and prototype issues using a data-driven approach.
