Job description
The role involves serving as a liaison between Driveline Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering for Driveline Production lines at Rivian's Normal, Illinois facility. The position focuses on maintaining product integrity and supporting engineering changes while leading multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will have a background in mechanical, mechatronic, or electrical engineering with automotive experience. This position reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Driveline Series Engineering.
Requirements
- Mechanical Engineer, Mechatronic Engineer, or Electrical Engineer with automotive experience.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in automotive, aeronautic, or mechanical design.
- Experience in multidisciplinary team leadership.
- Knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R development, and APQP.
- Understanding of GD&T, Root Cause Analysis, Statistics/Data Analysis, and VAVE.
- Proficiency in CAD.
- Strong verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
Responsibilities
- Maintain product integrity throughout the development process.
- Coordinate and cooperate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Lead teams in high-level decision-making processes.
- Create Bills of Materials (BOM) and define Design Verification Plans (DVP).
- Conduct stack-up analysis and risk evaluation for engineering changes.
- Support new program launches and engineering changes.
- Implement engineering changes proposed by suppliers.
- Provide support for manufacturing process changes.
- Act as the point of contact between corporate Product Engineering and the plant.
- Facilitate design-related discussions with suppliers.
- Support Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives.
- Release prints and BOMs as needed.
