Job description

Rivian is seeking a highly motivated and experienced mechanical engineer to lead the development of electronic hardware components for their Electric Adventure Vehicles. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize mechanical designs for performance, manufacturing, and service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for innovation and a commitment to protecting the outdoors. This position is integral to advancing Rivian's mission of creating emissions-free vehicles.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of industry experience within automotive or related fields, with a preference for experience in ECU development.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a relevant equivalent experience.
  • Experience in designing components and systems that include mechanism design, thermal design, and PCB integration.
  • Proficiency in CAD design, ideally in Catia V5/V6/3DX, with advanced surfacing and solid modeling expertise preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical development of ECUs and next-generation internal compute designs.
  • Define mechanical component requirements and conduct trade studies for optimization.
  • Develop PCB MCOs, enclosure designs, and thermal management designs.
  • Create component drawings and perform tolerance analysis studies.
  • Support thermal and FEA studies to enhance component design.
  • Document component mechanical functional requirements based on product specifications.
  • Complete component design verification plans to ensure durability and cost-effectiveness.
