Job description

Rivian is seeking a highly motivated and experienced mechanical engineer to join their electrical hardware team. The role focuses on the mechanical development of infotainment and sensor modules, aiming to innovate within the electric vehicle industry. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize component integration while ensuring ergonomic and manufacturing feasibility. This position requires a passion for problem-solving and a commitment to advancing Rivian's mission of creating emissions-free vehicles.

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years of industry experience within automotive or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Experience in designing components and systems including mechanism design and thermal design.
  • Proficiency in CAD design, ideally within Catia V5 / V6 / 3DX.
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing methods such as injection molding and CNC machining.
  • Workable knowledge of DFMEA principles and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical development of infotainment and sensor modules.
  • Define mechanical component requirements in partnership with domain teams.
  • Guide thermal and FEA studies to optimize component design.
  • Develop and document mechanical functional requirements for components.
  • Complete component design verification plans to ensure durability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the electrical team on PCB layout and thermal design.
