Rivian is seeking a highly motivated and experienced mechanical engineer to join their electrical hardware team. The role focuses on the mechanical development of sensor cleaning systems, contributing to the advancement of Rivian's autonomy and driver assistance technologies. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with various teams to define component requirements and optimize integration for performance and manufacturability. Requirements
- At least 10+ years of industry experience within automotive or related fields, with a preference for experience in autonomy and sensor cleaning development.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a relevant equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in CAD design, ideally with Catia V5/V6/3DX, and advanced surfacing and solid modeling expertise.
- Experience in mechanism design, thermal design, PCB integration, sensor integration, and UI/UX considerations.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical development of sensor cleaning systems as part of the electrical hardware team.
- Collaborate with domain teams and the mechanical architecture team to define mechanical component requirements.
- Develop testing plans and establish performance standards through cross-functional collaboration.
- Utilize first principles to identify and solve engineering issues using critical thinking methodologies.
- Create and document component mechanical functional requirements based on product specifications.
