The role involves leading the establishment of advanced drive unit design concepts for Rivian's Powertrain Drive Unit team. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in technical integration meetings, focusing on developing design maturity from layout to 3D assembly math. This position requires a strong engineering skillset in powertrain driveline systems and proficiency in CATIA. The candidate will also support design reviews and perform tolerance stack analysis.
Requirements
- In-depth understanding of EV propulsion system components and subsystems.
- Minimum 5 years of experience using CATIA, with V6 preferred.
- Experience using ENOVIA Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system or equivalent.
- Knowledge of DFM related to Machined Die Castings, Plastic Injection/Molded Parts, Gears/Bearings, and Bolted Joints.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and its application to part manufacturing and assembly tolerancing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office apps or Google Productivity apps.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead drive unit concept maturity from layout to 3D math.
- Create parametric 3D mechanical designs for component parts and assemblies.
- Execute 3D DU and Vehicle Level packaging studies of design concepts.
- Conduct Pugh Matrix based trade-off studies for DU System Architectural decisions.
- Collaborate with DREs and cross-functional teams such as CAE and manufacturing engineering.
- Support and participate in design reviews for DU subsystems.
- Perform part and assembly 2D/3D tolerance stack analysis.
