As a Sr. Design Engineer in Rivian's Sensing Systems Team, you will play a crucial role in the architecture and optimization of advanced sensing systems for autonomous vehicles. This position requires a strong technical background in hardware systems engineering and sensor integration. You will work closely with various teams to ensure the reliability and performance of sensors under real-world conditions. The role emphasizes hands-on contributions and collaboration across multiple technical domains.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Expert proficiency with Python and strong C++ skills for performance-critical production code.
- Understanding of signal interfaces and protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, SPI, MIPI, and synchronization methods.
- Familiarity with test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and vehicle data loggers.
- Working knowledge of sensor modeling and simulation tools.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to hardware integration and validation of all ADAS sensors into vehicle platforms.
- Own the sensor software interface definition and sensor firmware development.
- Work closely with perception, controls, and embedded software teams to ensure data integrity.
- Develop and execute system-level test plans including lab validation and vehicle-level testing.
- Implement and refine sensor calibration and alignment processes.
- Drive issue triage and resolution across hardware, firmware, and mechanical domains.
- Support sensor supplier selection and evaluation, including root cause analysis on failures.
- Maintain ownership of integration documentation and test artifacts.
