Job description

As a member of Rivian's Seat team within the Interior Engineering department, you will contribute to the design and development of innovative seating components for Rivian vehicles. This role emphasizes collaboration with various engineering teams to meet performance and commercial targets. You will engage in the entire product lifecycle, from concept to production, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Your work will help shape high-performing and sustainable solutions that align with Rivian's mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with a Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience developing, validating, and launching seating components or assemblies in the automotive industry.
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of FMVSS, ECE, NCAP, and other automotive evaluation and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to self-direct while managing ambiguity.
  • Excellent understanding of GD&T standards.
  • Understanding of FE analysis techniques for design and optimization.
  • Ability to conduct and drive the DFMEA process.
  • Eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop seat complete components for Rivian vehicles from concept through production.
  • Collaborate closely with Studio designers, Vehicle Safety, Perceived Quality, and other cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Design and develop products in Catia V6 using generative shape design, part design, and sketcher workbench.
  • Engage cross-functionally to ensure seamless collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
  • Design and develop the engineering bill of materials and perform change management using Enovia.
  • Design and develop DFMEAs with the cross-functional team and cascade dependencies to partners.
  • Lead the creation of Product Validation plans and coordinate validation activities.
  • Exhibit Rivian Compass values in all activities.
