Job description

Rivian is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join their team focused on Perception, Robotics, and Tracking. This role is essential for building and scaling evaluation tools for perception systems, ensuring the performance and reliability of the autonomy stack for a commercial fleet. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Perception and Autonomy teams to define evaluation metrics and drive continuous improvement. Requirements

  • 3+ years of direct industry experience as a software engineer in robotics, AV, or other real-time, safety-critical experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and modern C++ (C++14/17 or later).
  • Experience in Perception, Tracking, or Robotics domains, including evaluation, sensor fusion, or ML systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to build scalable tools and infrastructure supporting R&D and fleet deployment.
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement high-performance evaluation frameworks for perception and tracking modules.
  • Build scalable tools and pipelines to measure accuracy, robustness, and reliability across large-scale datasets.
  • Collaborate with Perception and Autonomy teams to define evaluation metrics.
  • Optimize codebases and ensure tools integrate seamlessly with production workflows.
