Job description
The Senior Power Electronics Engineer at Rivian will focus on designing and developing electrical components for on-board power electronic products, including chargers and inverters. This role is part of a diverse team that values innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry. Located in Torrance, CA, the engineer will report to the Sr. Manager of Electronic Design. The position requires a deep understanding of power electronics and the ability to work collaboratively with various engineering disciplines.
Requirements
- Minimum M.S. in Electrical Engineering, with a Ph.D. preferred, specializing in power electronics.
- Minimum 3 years of experience developing high-power electronics.
- Deep understanding of power semiconductor switches and diodes, and their characteristics.
- Strong experience designing and analyzing inverter and converter circuits, including gate drivers.
- Knowledge and experience with embedded control of power electronic circuits.
Responsibilities
- Develop high-power electrical circuits, such as active rectifiers, inverters, and DC-DC converters.
- Perform topology selection trade studies.
- Design circuits, select components, create schematics, and support the layout of circuit boards.
- Analyze and simulate circuits and key components using tools like Matlab and PLECS.
- Test prototype power electronics circuits in the lab and characterize power semiconductor devices.
