The AI Engineer role at Rivian focuses on building and shipping production AI experiences and platforms to enhance internal team efficiency. You will work within the Enterprise Applied AI team, collaborating with various departments to deliver practical solutions that drive business value. The position requires a strong foundation in software engineering and an understanding of AI concepts. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with governance standards related to privacy and security.

• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Practical software engineering experience building backend services, APIs, or data-intensive applications.
• Strong foundations in algorithms, data structures, and systems.
• Exposure to or hands-on experience with LLM application concepts such as retrieval, grounding, and prompt/agent design.
• Proficiency with modern software delivery practices including version control, CI/CD, and testing.

• Build features and services across the AI stack including orchestration, retrieval, and serving.
• Implement robust data processing and integration pipelines for high-quality AI applications.
• Contribute to design documents, code reviews, and operational playbooks to ensure reliability.
• Partner with product and business stakeholders to define requirements and measure outcomes.
• Monitor quality, safety, latency, and cost through telemetry and evaluation.
