Job description
As a Staff Power Electronics Controls Engineer at Rivian, you will play a crucial role in developing intelligent control systems for electric vehicles and energy solutions. The team focuses on creating innovative power conversion systems that contribute to a cleaner and more efficient future. You will be involved in the entire lifecycle of control systems, from concept to real-world application. This position requires a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in power electronics and control algorithms.
Requirements
- An MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering specializing in Power Electronics or Controls.
- A strong theoretical and practical understanding of power electronics control.
- Familiarity with AC/DC, DC/AC, and DC/DC resonant converter topologies.
- Demonstrated ability to develop robust control algorithms from scratch.
- Proven experience in developing and verifying control algorithms for switching power converters.
- Expertise in MATLAB/Simulink and experience with power converter modeling tools.
- Solid programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
Responsibilities
- Designing and optimizing control algorithms for power electronics applications.
- Utilizing advanced simulation tools to evaluate circuit topologies and components.
- Translating application requirements into effective controller specifications.
- Developing and implementing novel control strategies at system and component levels.
- Testing and troubleshooting control algorithms in simulated and physical environments.
- Creating detailed power electronics models to analyze controller performance.
- Defining comprehensive tests to validate algorithms and their interactions with system features.
- Collaborating closely with engineers from various disciplines to achieve project goals.
