Job description

The Staff Systems Engineer, Charging & Energy at Rivian is a senior individual contributor responsible for the system architecture, integration, and performance of charging and energy products. This role involves leading cross-functional efforts and serving as the go-to systems owner for complex, safety-critical functions. The engineer will mentor other engineers and drive critical systems engineering deliverables to completion. The position requires a blend of technical leadership and collaboration across various teams to ensure safe and reliable charging experiences for customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Typically 8+ years of relevant experience in EE design and PCBA development.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Altium Designer for multi-layer, high-density, or high-power designs.
  • Direct experience in designing custom embedded computer PCBAs and LV control boards.
  • Expert knowledge in component-level analysis, worst-case modeling, and circuit simulation.

Responsibilities

  • Own key charging and energy systems and functions across one or more product lines.
  • Independently create, drive, and complete critical systems engineering deliverables.
  • Lead system-level trade-off and design decisions balancing safety, performance, cost, and schedule.
  • Define and maintain end-to-end system architectures for charging and energy products.
  • Act as the critical interface between the Charging & Energy team and the dedicated PCBA design engineering team.
