Job description
As a member of the seat development team at Rivian, you will focus on the prototyping, design, and industrialization of seat assemblies, particularly specializing in soft trim covers. This role involves collaborating with various engineering teams to develop innovative solutions that align with the Rivian brand experience. You will lead the development of trim cover manufacturing and seat assemblies while utilizing advanced technologies in materials and design. The position requires a strong commitment to problem-solving and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in automotive seat and soft trim development
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- High proficiency in Lectra’s Design Concept or similar software
- Advanced technical knowledge of sewing assembly, processes, and industrialization
- Proven competency in pattern design and trim materials understanding
- Eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Provide in-depth technical guidance for seat soft trim development and production
- Collaborate with the program engineering team to lead the development of innovative solutions
- Lead the development for trim cover manufacturing and complete seat assemblies
- Utilize CAD/CAE and scanning toolsets to optimize prototypes and production designs
- Develop efficient prototype processes to represent production intent parts
- Lead cross-functional teams to achieve desired styling and craftsmanship
- Develop best practices for design and release engineering in the prototype lab
- Lead problem-solving activities related to physical seats and soft trim
- Finalize all trim patterns for prototype development including BOM and drawings
- Operate sewing and cutting machines to validate trim design proposals
- Build development seats based on trim design proposals for validation
