As a Lead Closures Engineer at Rivian, you will play a pivotal role in developing sophisticated mechanisms and structures for electric vehicles. You will oversee the entire lifecycle of high-impact systems, ensuring a balance between innovative design and mechanical performance. This position requires collaboration with various teams, including design and manufacturing, to bring lightweight systems from concept to production. Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, with a Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in automotive closures development or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong understanding of product requirements and closures features, particularly in lightweight systems.
- CAD design experience for closures systems, mechanisms, structures, or related vehicle components.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of integrity.
Responsibilities
- Lead collaborative development of closure mechanisms including handles, actuators, latches, and regulators.
- Manage component release for closures throughout the program lifecycle, from concept design to production support.
- Develop and manage system, subsystem, and component part information through the Enovia PLM to Catia V6 environment.
- Champion 1st principles design methodology in body closures systems.
- Mentor and help develop less experienced engineers.
