Job description

The Senior Software Engineer role at Apple focuses on building intelligent internal platforms and automation frameworks for the Apple Ads team. This hands-on position emphasizes the development of AI/LLM-powered tools that enhance engineering productivity and quality across various ecosystems. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to create scalable solutions that improve automation and debugging processes. The role requires a strong foundation in software engineering and experience in building developer infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building scalable platforms, developer tools, or automation frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Python or Java with the ability to design clean, maintainable, and extensible systems.
  • Experience with modern automation technologies such as Playwright, Selenium, XCTest, or XCUITest.
  • Hands-on experience building or validating applications within mobile ecosystems, including iOS or Android client-side environments.
  • Familiarity with large-scale distributed systems or data platforms such as Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, Hive, or HDFS.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, APIs, backend services, and data-driven workflows.
  • Applied experience leveraging AI/LLM technologies to build internal tooling, automation, or developer workflows.
  • Ability to debug complex system-level issues across interconnected services and platforms.
  • Proven success collaborating across engineering organizations and communicating technical concepts clearly.
  • Experience creating internal developer platforms, self-service tools, or scalable engineering infrastructure.
  • Exposure to advertising technology or other high-scale platform ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable end-to-end automation frameworks across frontend, mobile, backend, API, and device ecosystems.
  • Develop intelligent developer tooling and automation systems using AI/LLM technologies.
  • Design agent-based and MCP-enabled workflows that improve automation efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Partner with engineering teams across Apple Ads to improve automation coverage, debugging workflows, and developer productivity.
  • Drive technical direction for scalable internal tooling and automation infrastructure.
  • Contribute directly through architecture, coding, debugging, and framework development.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
