Apple Sports is seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer to enhance user experiences through the Apple Sports app and Apple TV. This role involves collaborating with top engineers to create high-performance user interfaces and reliable backend systems. The engineer will work on real-time data services and responsive client-side applications, impacting millions of sports fans worldwide. This position also includes mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of learning within the team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and deploying full-stack features in a production environment
- Strong proficiency in Java for backend services, with experience in both Object-Oriented and Functional programming principles
- Hands-on experience building modern frontend applications using frameworks such as React or Vue, with proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Solid understanding of RESTful and GraphQL API design
- Experience with databases such as Postgres and Redis, and stream processing platforms like Kafka
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience building and optimizing real-time data pipelines
- Familiarity with state management patterns and tools such as Redux or Zustand
- Practical experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with stream processing frameworks like Apache Flink or Apache Spark Streaming
- Experience collaborating closely with UX/UI designers
- Passion for sports and the sports data ecosystem
- Self-motivated with strong collaboration and communication skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain the full spectrum of the technology stack for the Apple Sports app
- Create highly available, real-time data services that ingest and distribute sports data at massive scale
- Build rich, responsive user interfaces that bring sports data to life
- Collaborate with design, product, and platform teams to deliver cohesive end-to-end features
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
- Optimize frontend performance for real-time data rendering
- Implement systems with a focus on scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability
