The role at Rivian focuses on optimizing Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) for future products. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with product design, virtual engineering, and equipment teams to enhance manufacturability and serviceability. This position is based in Irvine, CA, and reports to an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager. The team is dedicated to creating efficient, safe, and sustainable manufacturing processes.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a similar technical field
• 5+ years of experience in an engineering role related to DFMA, product optimization, manufacturing process, or equipment development
• Knowledge in manufacturing and industrial engineering principles such as OEE, cycle time analysis, and quality control
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems using first principles
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working within 2D and 3D CAD environments and various engineering tools

• Conduct DFMA studies at part, assembly, and system levels to provide design feedback
• Lead static and kinematic studies to simulate assembly and equipment interactions
• Drive content reduction, assembly simplification, and build-in-quality initiatives
• Lead PFMEA, build sequence, and process layout development while hosting new product virtual builds
• Support prototype and design validation builds by designing and delivering proto manufacturing tooling
• Actively engage in value engineering and challenge assumptions in the manufacturing process
• Support manufacturing validation builds at Rivian's manufacturing plants
