Job description

The role at Rivian focuses on providing technical leadership and developing test strategies for complex electro-mechanical systems, particularly in the areas of powertrain and drivetrain testing. Candidates will be responsible for leading test planning, execution, and data interpretation while collaborating with various engineering and manufacturing teams. Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in test engineering for powertrain, drivetrain, propulsion, or similar complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated track record operating at a Staff level in designing and executing complex test campaigns.
  • Deep understanding of test methods, measurement systems, and data analysis for durability, thermal, NVH, or powertrain performance.
  • Strong communication skills, including clear technical writing and concise summaries for leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end test strategy for a significant domain, ensuring alignment with vehicle and subsystem requirements.
  • Translate high-level attributes and DVP targets into concrete test methods and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead test planning for complex campaigns, including sequence design and risk assessments.
  • Provide hands-on technical support for critical tests, including debugging and correlation against models.
  • Act as the primary technical counterpart for cross-functional collaboration with various engineering teams.
