Job description

The Silicon Design Engineer role at AMD focuses on researching, designing, developing, and testing electronic components and systems for semiconductor manufacturing. The engineer will work within a cross-geographic pre-silicon verification team to verify a next-generation AI engine. This position emphasizes collaboration with design and architecture teams to ensure micro-architecture and design integrity across multiple platforms. The role requires a strong understanding of electronic theory and engineering principles.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in SOC/system architecture.
  • Proficiency in RTL design/coding.
  • Knowledge of Verilog, VHDL, and System Verilog.
  • Experience in functional verification of microprocessors.
  • Familiarity with ASIC design tools including synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, and static timing analysis.
  • Understanding of design flows and methodologies used for chip verification.
  • Experience with Front-End EDA tools.
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of C/C++, SV, UVM, and Python.
  • Understanding of CPU architecture.
  • Experience with object-oriented design.
  • Knowledge of formal verification and post-silicon validation.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and test electronic components and systems for semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Perform definition, design, verification, and documentation for ASIC development.
  • Determine architecture design, logic design, and system simulation.
  • Define module interfaces and formats for simulation.
  • Collaborate with a cross-geographic team to verify a next-generation AI engine.
  • Work with design and architecture teams to verify micro-architecture and design across platforms.
  • Develop a comprehensive verification plan and implement verification test cases.
  • Contribute to the development of multidimensional designs for complex integrated circuits.
  • Evaluate process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use.
  • Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics in the design process.
