Job description

AMD is seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) Firmware Engineer to focus on the research, design, development, and testing of operating systems-level software and compilers for semiconductor operations. The role emphasizes innovation and collaboration within a culture that values diverse perspectives. The engineer will work on enhancing AMD's next-generation 3D graphics and developing diagnostic test strategies for application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive projects of significant technical importance.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Four years of experience in a job offered or closely related engineering role.
  • Experience within the semiconductor industry.
  • Experience producing firmware and debugging Coreboot, UEFI BIOS, and Linux kernel issues.
  • Familiarity with x86 CPU/APU architectures and associated compile tools.
  • Knowledge of industry standard IO interfaces, storage, memory, and Ethernet technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software and compilers.
  • Develop software and tools in support of electronic design and technology platforms.
  • Design and debug software programs for enhancements and new products.
  • Develop new architecture diagnostic test strategies and methodologies.
  • Determine test strategies for cache-related features and collaborate with design teams.
  • Perform emulation verification for AMD's next-generation ASICs.
  • Drive projects of significant technical importance and exercise independent judgment.
