·FY 2025Job description
The Senior Power Architecture & Optimization Engineer at NVIDIA will focus on enhancing energy efficiency through advanced analytics and AI, particularly using large language models (LLMs) for power analysis. This role is pivotal in developing energy-efficient GPUs and SoCs, leveraging machine learning and data analytics to optimize power consumption. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to interpret power data and drive architectural improvements. This position is integral to shaping the energy profile of NVIDIA's future products.
Requirements
- MS or equivalent experience with 5 years of experience, or a PhD with 3 years of experience in EE, CE, CS, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of energy consumption, power estimation, data movement, and low-power design.
- Familiarity with Verilog and ASIC design principles, and hands-on experience with tools such as PowerArtist and PrimePower.
- Solid coding and automation skills, preferably in Python, Perl, and C++.
- Experience or strong interest in machine learning, reinforcement learning, and data analytics applied to EDA or architecture.
- Interest or experience in building and using LLMs or other foundation models for engineering workflows.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Analyze full-chip and unit-level power using internal and industry-standard tools to improve design and architecture.
- Develop and productionize power-aware models and flows, including ML/RL-based techniques for anomaly detection.
- Design and train new LLMs to assist engineers in interpreting complex power data and proposing optimizations.
- Perform comparative power analysis across workloads and design options to identify trends and optimization opportunities.
- Partner closely with various teams to interpret power data and drive design changes.
- Prototype and evaluate new architectural features in Verilog with a focus on power implications.
- Automate and scale flows using Python, Perl, and C++, defining new pipelines for power anomaly detection.
- Apply AI to power optimization by building and deploying data-driven models for power-efficient configurations.
Benefits
- Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
